Sally's Big Hair

Meet Sally. She loves eating cereal and has had a life-long battle with big hair. She has tried all sorts of haircuts with unfortunate results, the worst being the "pixie" crop she once had that landed her on a list of hairstyle don'ts. Sally now thinks big accessories will help camouflage the boof. What do you think?

A Little Sprout

Last night I went to the Plush You! show at Munky King. There are so many talented softie makers out there, I was in total awe. I absolutely fell in love with Amelie by A Little Sprout and I wished to take her home but I had already blown my budget for the week on a pair of Swedish Hasbeens. If only I could turn back time!

Full of pie

Tonight I made these delicious chicken pies from a recipe I found on Shutterbean. It took a bit of effort making everything from scratch. I couldn't cheat, like I usually would have, by using store bought pastry because my husband is trying out a gluten-free diet. I substituted the celery and peas for corn and asparagus instead and it worked out great! Too good actually...I scoffed down one too many and am now suffering from inside-out tummy. Be warned.

Waiting for Fall

Stephanie's favourite season is Fall. She's already played dress-ups planned her outfit accordingly. She also imagines listening to the rustle of the leaves beneath her feet whilst she's walking through the park.

Freddy the Fat Squirrel

Freddy the fat squirrel is quite jolly and has a penchant for anything sweet spiked with a bit of alcohol...his favourite thing to raid for outside The Chatty Squirrel Cafe is crumbs of Double Chocolate Kahlua Cake. Very occasionally when he has too much cake he tends to talk for hours on end, do a jig, flash a passerby and finally pass out with a bit of fur shaved off.

Tatiana and Belle

I just finished this custom portrait for a sweet, shiny girl to use on her blog - check it out - she takes lovely photos and has recently come back from an amazing holiday to Europe.

Mod Cloth Love

Today I imagined I was wearing a cute outfit from Mod Cloth - stripey top, comfy cardigan, patterned high-waisted shorts, grey socks and brown leather heels - reality is I'm still in my old scrappy pj's with messy, boofy bed hair

Unbelievable!

I purchased this spunky little camera online from Walmart last Friday and I received it in the mail yesterday, what I did not receive though, is the film that I placed in the same order. As quoted by Phil Dunphy from Modern Family "Why The Face?"

My sister made this adorable little creature for me when she was here visiting. She's a sweetie.

Isabel

Isabel is on her way home from a trip to Barnes and Noble. She's been having one of those lazy days where you sleep in til 10, you don't have any appointments, chores or errands and you spend all your time looking through fashion magazines and eating cake. I love those days.

Not enough hours in the day

I ran out of time today so I didn't get to finish my painting but I thought I'd show the sketch anyway since it's been a few days since my last post. What did I do today? Oh so much cleaning, then my usual run to the post office and Trader Joe's for groceries, after which I got caught up with reading Just Kids by Patti Smith, one of the better books I've picked up this year. Now I'm off to make dinner and fit in a workout afterward...back tomorrow!

Venice Beach Canals

On Saturday we (my husband and little sister) decided to drive to Venice and  go for a walk around the canals.  It was really amazing to see such different styles of housing sitting next to one another.  In Melbourne  we're used to a more uniform appearance when it comes to our architecture - you would never see a little English cottage two doors down from a  flamingo fence,  next a modern play box,  opposite a castle!  Unbelievable!
